Show LATEST EEBI MERCUK CONTINUED ACTIVITY IN rUE GREAT GOLD CAMP The Mercur People In a Quandary Over Their Mill The Glencoe nd Surprise General Notes The Mercur Mercury of yesterday gave the following review of operations opera-tions in the gold camp for the week The past week has been an active one in the local mining world and good deals and developments have resulted re-sulted There is an encouraging increase in-crease in the amount of prospecting and development work which is bound to result beneficially to the camp and district ANOTHER GROUP BONDED The Fairchild group lying north of and adjacent to the Sunshine and owned by Judge W Sherman ras bonded this week by W B Andrews and H B Cole in the sum of 20000 Work has already been commenced on the property which is regarded as being be-ing of great promise and Messrs Andrews An-drews and Cole expect to develop another i an-other Sunshine in a short time The I group comprises eight claims IN A QUANDARY The Mercur people are in a quandary quan-dary They dont know whether to I build a mill on this side of the hill or to enlarge their present mill and build a tramway from the mine Indications Indica-tions seem to be that they will decide on the latter NOTES I The Surprise boys had a payday yesterday I The number of idle miners in camp is decreasing A number of outside mining men visited the camp during the week The number of miners employed in the district has increased largely of late I Jack Davis is developing a prospect over in the Glencoe country and has a great showing I William Bailey and other owners in the Jumbo group were in the district during the week I I Jack Green is sinking through a strong vein on the Hard Times which l hs a very lively and promising appearance I ap-pearance Henry Hand who has lien working I for Keifer all winter left Tuesday for Lewiston Ida where he has mining I interests I There is continued improvement in I the Mattie No 4 shaft and the ore is of a grade to mill profitably It gives I promise of becoming a large producer Thomas R Thompson of Salt Lake Interested with the Wisccmbs and others in the Victoria group Is here on business connected with that property P k3 Harrington was in camp Sunday and reports continued Improvement in the claim over near the Electric Light pruperiy operated oy nimseit and Mike McEvoy John Scarborough is working on the Shoebridge Ida Louisa and other claims not far from the Buddee group and thinks he has the making of a good mine Logie and the Maginms boys left yesterday yes-terday with their jack train and horses on an extended prospsctlng trip through Nevada and California They may strike It rich The Mercur and Marion mines are working about the usual forces and milling the usual amount of ore The character of the ore in the Marion is said to be constantly improving J P Sorenson of the SorensonNel son Furnture company Salt Lake city has been inspecting several prospects this week and it is probable that he will secure interests in the district Continued improvement is reported at the Sunshine and Its possibilities as an oreproducer increase daily A mill for this property is among the immediate im-mediate probabilities for the future The news from the Glencoe this week is of an encouraging nature The operators seem at last to have solved the enigma which this property presented pre-sented and to be on the high road to success The Herschel shaft is now down about eighty feet The shaft is through the shale and the bottom is von matter mat-ter It is not improbable that flY ore will be encountered before this reaches the reader Work was commenced the first of the week on the Mattie No1 and the operators expect to get ore at a depth of about twentyfive feet The surface sur-face indications of this property are excellent Keifer and Scheu have commenced work on the Buddee group lying about two miles northwest of the camp Some nice looking rock was sent down from this property the first of the week 1 Work is still being prosecuted on j the Surprise shaft and as far as we I have learned there are no new developments l devel-opments The operators seem to think that they are now in close proximity prox-imity to the vein i Blake and Jones are still prosecuting work on the Hornet group north of the camp and expect to encounter the I I vein in i the next ten feet Surface assays I as-says on this group run from 160 up I to several dollars I We understand that the money has i i been put up to sink the shaft in the I southern foothills by which it is expected ex-pected to be demonstrated that the Mer cur vein extends over that country I though at greater dephth Tim Driscoll I is at tha head of the enterprise |
