Christmas can seem to end all too quickly, just like a dazzling dream, so Wheeler Historic Farm helps prolong its magic each year with its between the holidays. The celebration isnt just more of the same thing, but a good old- fashioned party. The tastes, smells, activities and games of the 1890s come alive again for five days, Dec. 26, 27, 29, 30 and 31. Hours are noon to4p.m. Wheeler Farm officials invite the public to attend, In the past the farm social has been held only two days. It has become so popular that it has been extended, says Shirley Floyd, museum exhibits manager and volunteer coordinator. It is well attended because the kids are still out of school and the family can still have one more fling. Three hundred people are expected each day. The main feature will be a tour of the old house all spruced up in its Christmas finery. Mostly natural decorations have been used with apples, oranges, nuts, pine cones and greenery adding color and nostalgia. Decorators were Mrs. Floyd and members of the Wheeler Farm Guild, with Priscilla Harris as president. In the vintage kitchen around the coal stove, refreshments will be served. There will be samples of egg nog and hot lemonade. A treasure hunt and other games will be held in the ice house and nearby on the farm. Horse-drawsleigh rides or farm rides will be available in the field north of the barn. For sale in the ice house will be hot chocolate, hot cider, hot dogs and popcorn. The social is offered by the Salt Lake County Recreation Department, working with volunteers and s staff of the farm. Dr. A. Glen s, n Hurn-phery- is curator-directo- r.
