Jail The opening of the new Criminal Justice Complex in Farmington made headlines in May. The "smokeless, barless" jail and court complex had been under construction construc-tion for two years. The jail is designed with eight pods, four containing con-taining 16 cells and four containing 32 cells. Each cell had a reinforced window with no bars. The new facility replaced the old windowless jail in Farmington. After several months of "practice" in the new facility, 140 inmates were transferred from the old jail to the new cells July 2. Capacity at the new facility is 368. There were 150 inmates housed at the facility Thursday.
