Uintah County officials are attempting to extradite the two girls father, David L. Davis, from Idaho to face charges of custodial interference. Davis is a former resident of Vernal. The mother, ;ilso a Vernal resident, was given visiting rigl O SiiOTy after obtaining custody of his children, Davis left the Vernal Ver-nal area and did not report his location. Because he transported the children out of state, the charge of custodial interference is a felony, said Harry Souvall, Uintah County attorney. Two weeks ago Davis was apprehended on a warrant from Uintah County and the two children were returned to their mother in Vernal. Davis is refusing extradition to Utah, but Attorney Souvall said he is in the process okformally extraditing Davis. Meanwhile, Davis is free on his own recognizance. "We requested a bond to hold Davis, but the Idaho judge refused it," Souvall said. The request to issue a warrant for Davis was raised with the former Uintah County attorney four years ago, but no action was taken. |
