Show Utah Winter Games to begin on Jan. 10 Regional Technical Series and Alpine University of Utah NCAA Invitational will be by invitation only. As in years past, KTVX will cover the events nightly from Jan. 10 to Jan. 19. The finals of each event will also be broadcast. Utahns as well as non-residents are welcome to participate in one or all events, Driver said. In the past, competitors have come from not only Utah, but throughout the United States and various parts of the globe. "If people are in the area for a few weeks or even a few days and want to participate, they are welcome," Driver said. While registration for many events is open until the day of the race, the Winter Games office is asking that competitors pre-register "in order to create the best, organized competitive environment for the athletes." Registration forms were distributed with the December issue of the "Sports Guide" and are also available from the Utah Winter Games office, 973-UTAH. 973-UTAH. Nearly all of the events are open to the public. However, some of the skiing events which bring elite skiers to the slopes will be closed to the general public.
