Show BONUS PAYMENT ISSUED TO ASS'N. MEMBERS By ARVIL BIRD There is being released now from the local office of the Utah Poultry Producers Cooperative association a patronage refund to all producers who delivered eggs to the association during the months of March, April, and May, 1940. This patronage refund amounts to approximately $1,000, which amount is being distributed distribut-ed at the rate of 15c per case on each case of eggs shipped during the above mentioned months. In the storage operations last year, conducted by the association, associa-tion, there was accumulated approximately ap-proximately $30,000, which was made possible by a sound policy of merchandising. Through this policy we not only aided in holding hold-ing the spring market up to a proper pro-per level by storing the eggs rather ra-ther than selling them at lower levels, but made a little money in the process which is being distributed distri-buted to members throughout the state as a bonus payment for eggs shipped during the spring months of last year. The association has entered into contracts with producer-members here in this district for approximately approxi-mately 20,000 broilers. In these contracts, the producer has been guaranteed no less than 13c per pound for his broilers at the coop or if they are delivered to our processing pro-cessing plant situated at American Ameri-can Fork, the guaranteed price is 14c per pound. For the convenience conven-ience of the producers desiring to enter this contract, the association will advance 10c per bird to feed them up to eight weeks of age. During this period of brooding, there seems to be more baby chicks being placed in the brooder houses this year and many vacant coops are being refilled which have been empty for some time. The poultry industry appears to be much brighter at the present time than it has done for some years past inasmuch as the government has set a price on eggs. This action ac-tion has a very decided effect on the price of eggs the producers will receive for their eggs shipped to the eastern markets. |
