In the recent crop report completed complet-ed by the county crop inspector, American Fork leads in the shipment ship-ment of potatoes, having shipped seven carloads, and hi turnips, being be-ing the only turnip shipping point in the county. Ten Years Ago Now During the six days preceding Xmas, the postoffice sold 8418 one-cent one-cent stamps, 2059 two-cent stamps; sent away 519 insured packages and (estimated) 1038 not Insured parcels. par-cels. The office received during this six days 278 insured parcels and 1080 not insured. Ten Years Ago Now The Community Players of tha ; Third ward will present "Our Boys" a comedy in three-acts in the new I gymnasium tonight. The cast consists con-sists of: George Hinckley, Walter Devey Jr., Vern Holindrake, Norman Wing, Ralph Miller, Bessie Ingersoll, Inger-soll, Mona Hindley, Ellen Jacklin and Willie Hansen. The play is directed di-rected by Mrs. L. Ashby assisted by Mrs. Emmett Ligersoll and Leona Kelly. Ten Years Ago Now Fire starting from a defective flu destroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Beck last Saturday morning. The major portion of the furniture was saved though damaged considerable. consid-erable. The Gordon family fami-ly had been in quarantine for three I weeks. j Ten Years Ago Now I The annual reunion of the des-jcendents des-jcendents of William Greenwood, ! pioneer, was held Thursday afternoon after-noon and evening in the tabernacle basement. The following officers were elected for the coming year: T. A Greenwood, president; Miss Josie Greenwood, vice-president; jReed Gardner, secretary; Fern Vance, treasurer. Ten Years Ago Now Edward A. Morgan, former English Eng-lish teacher in the local high school, well known educator of Utah County Coun-ty and professor of English at the B. Y. U., died at his home in Spanish Span-ish Fork Saturday night following a six days illness of pneumonia. |
