Show Sloe Used in Tea Sloe, a wild plum, sometimes called the blackthorn, is the source of a leaf sometimes used to adulterate adulter-ate tea. The bush, which glows in height from four to ten feet, is covered cov-ered with sharp pointb or spikes, In the spring time, the bush Is first covered with white flowers which appear before the leaves come out, These leaves, shaped somewhat like tea leaves, are used to make a type of tea peculiar to the sloe, and in addition, find their way into adulterated adul-terated tea. The fruit of the tree or bush is of little use, being small and very bitter. |
