Show Moss Deplores 'Wilderness' As Bar To Area's Progress Following is a telegram received Monday, January 8th, from Senator Moss at Washing ton, D. 0.) "Senator Frank E. Moss (D.) of Utah, Monday protested the proposal to put a wilderness area in Bryce Canyon National Park, at least without 'much more consideration and after significant alterations.' "Moss submitted a statement to the National Park Scrvic-which said in part: " Establishment of a 17.900 acre wilderness would virtually cut Bryce Canyon National Park in half as far as development Is concerned and severly limit future expansion. " "Those most familiar with Bryce Canyon believe the most exciting view is from the Canyon floor. Today, comparatively few visitors reach this area. Residents of the region point out that establishment of campsites at lower elevations would extend by some two months a visiting season for the Park This is a most important consideration.' "Moss also mentioned the need of the community of Tropic for more water." |
