The night before last she eloped again. Fields pursued her to one Joseph Elliott's house where Thornberg and Miss Fields were. He fired at Elliott accusing him of aiding the elopement. The only shot that took effect was one that grazed his daughter's ear. The fugitives escaped. <br><br> New York, Dec. 18- A boiler in Willie & Clement's, 26th street, exploded this morning, wrecking the building and roof; the boiler was carried half a block; the dynamite machine engine, boiler house, etc., were all destroyed. The boiler alighted on Stine's drug store and pieces of the pipe went through the skylight, and descending into a bed where the tenants were sleeping, threw them into paroxysms of terror. <br><br> LONDON, Dec. 18. -- The bark Nile, Capt. Dixon, from Quebec Nov. 15th for Canliff, became waterlogged and capsized on the 22d of November. A part of the crew landed at Flushing. The master and the remainder of the crew drowned. <br><br> THE HAGUE, Dec. 18,- The second chamber of the Netherlands voted a grant of 7,000 guilders for an artic expedition, next year. |
