Show BALLS ON CHRISTMAS EVE. Everybody took his girl to a dance on Christmas Eve, and though the walking was muddy and the weather bad, Terpsichore had multitudes of devotees. The Angell orchestra ball at Providence was very crowded, in fact, too much so for comfort, and at times difficulty was experienced in preserving proper order and decorum, though, on the whole, the affair was greatly enjoyed by those who attended it. There was also a dance in the 5th ward, Logan, which has been described to us as a pretty rough affair, and another in Logan Hall gotten up by the "hoodlums" and announced as a "hoodlum" dance. We will wager that the last named was the most genteel, orderly, enjoyable and respectable dance given in or near Logan for a month. If it was a "fair" specimen of what "hoodlums" can do, by all means let the "hoodlums" run the rest of the dances in this town this winter. Their success this time discounted the "select balls" we have been having, two to one. Rah for the "hoods"! |
