Show Fee change ok'd for vaccine shots By CHERIE IIUBER FARMINGTON -- The Davis County Board of Health approved a proposed fee change for personal health services which was presented to the board by Dr. Leopardi. THE BOARD recently received a letter from the Utah State Department of Health that stated that effective May I , local health departments may charge a maximum of $2 per dose of vaccine administered. Currently the charge is $2 per visit. This could represent a 200 percent increase in cost to the public. The vaccine is provided free by the state. The increased charges are only to cover increased administrative costs. I ACCORDING to Board members, most doctors in' Davis County refer their patients to the County Clinics for vaccines because of the cost savings to the patient. The fee changes are effective immediately. However, as a Condition for receiving state-supplied vaccine, no patient may be denied vaccine because of an inability to pay the administrative administra-tive charge. In fact, that qualification must be specified, either during registration or with a prominently displayed poster in the clinic waiting room. |
