Show Soccer coach leads in Clipper balloting It may be early, but if first day balloting is any indication, the j most popular coach in south Davis County coaches youth soccer. soc-cer. After the first day of balloting in the Clipper Coach of the Year contest, Da Von Lauder of the South Davis Soccer Association Asso-ciation is the runaway leader, with 81 votes. WHOEVER IT is supporting Coach Lauder obviously has caught the vision of what this contest is all about. Many of those 81 ballots we received by 6 p.m. last Friday has been filled out by the same people over and over. That is permissible, and even desirable, because you can vote for your favorite coach as often as you like. Just be sure each ballot is filled out individually, and not photocopied. (You can photocopy a blank ballot, however, which supporters of Coach Lauder did.) Soccer is also the sport coached by Woods Cross High's Kevin Rigby, who is currently in second place with 13 votes. Woods Cross girl's Basketball coach Debbie Peel is third with seven votes, and Davis High basketball coach John Robison is fourth with 1 vote. But another batch of ballots arrived at the Clipper Monday morning, and they will be figured into our updated vote totals in Thursday's Clipper. SO DON'T delay. Deadline for balloting is 6 p.m. on Friday, May 23. The winning coach will be announced on Tuesday, May 27 in the Clipper. |
