President Lavon . Payne vms. in charge of the meeting. Roll called showing all members : present, also Superintendent and Clerk. Prayer was offered by II. Brockbank, Clerk's tentative notes of the meeting held April 4th, copies of which vrere furnish ed the Superintendent and mailed to all members on April 5th, were approved as the official minutes of the above meeting on a motion by VUlian F. Broadbent, seconded by :' Leo A. Crandall Kotion unanimous. Claims, mounting to 050,920.56 (vouchers No. 2213 to 2553 inel.) lists of which " wore furnished the Superintendent and mailed to all members on Thursday, April lith, were approved for payment on a motion by L. J. Crabb, seconded by Dr. Sllsworth. Lotion unanimous. Clerk furnished the, Superintendent and all members with copies of Statement of Contract Payments on New Building, showing total amount of contracts '!, 089, 160.04, i amount expended to riarch 31st 1,069432. 51, balance unpaid C19,72?.53. Clerk furnished the Superintendent and each board member with statement on School Lunch Operation for the period July 1, 1954 to 2feirch 31, 1955, showing funds received i : .'161,029.55, which includes balance on hand at the close of last year $2,905.06 and final settlements for previous year received in this year amounting to 15,754.63 and j : all funds for the present y3ar to March 31st, less expenditures to L'areh 31st amounting i to ,143,634.32, leaving a cash operating balance of :';18,195.23, also inventories worth ! 29,213.56. -j Bids were opened and tabulated for furnishing and Installing stage curtains, window" , curtains, tracks, etc. for the four new elamentary schools (Parkview, Park, Grant and Testaide) in accordance with specifications furnished, as follows: ' Net Alt. 1 Total : ' ' f. Some discussion was had by the Board of Education in regard to the purchase of , property from Doyle Liddle adjoining the Payson Jr. High School, and also additional ; property adjoining the Snataquirr, Jr. High School grounds, action on these purchases was tabled for further investigation. Ashworth, Architect, waited on the Board and ! presented and discussed outline specifications for the proposed Junior High School in ; Springville, Utah. A, J. Boven was present for this discussion. The Superintendent and board members '.er furnished with lists of proposed equip-I equip-I ment items to be purchased in the School Lunch department of the Springville I'estdide ; elementary building, amounting to 4740, 02. T, A, Matching projects for cement sidewalks at the Benjamin school and for 1 the purchase of library books and playground equipment for the Taylor School, were, presented by the Superintendent. These requests were tabled for further investigation, j f The Board decided to make a visit to the schools in the south part of the district , ' on Thursday, April 21st to check requested maintenance item in the schools for the 1955-56 school year. 3 Superintendent Brockbank presented a list of uncertificated teachers ha desired , to employ for the 1955-56 school year, Ke was instructed to get approval from K. ; : Blaine Uinters, State Certification Supervisor, before offering then contracts. ; Kotion by Leo a. Crandall, seconded Dr. Ellsworth, to adopt the school calendar v 'or the 1955-56 school year as presented by Superintendent Brockbank, listing 176 possible days of school.- ' i " ! Superintendent Brockbank presented a report from Farreil G. Olson setting forth I the' recent Future Farmer Activities, . The Board members were furnished copies of a report of the Nurses' Activities for : i'.a period January 1st. to December 31st, 1954. Superintendent presented letter from Stella H, Oakes, President of the Utah Ocu.-rSy Child Guidance Clinic, ' requesting an appropriation of 500 to help defray j expense in operating their clinic. After some discussion this request was tabled for ! fu.rx.Ler investigation, .. I Superintendent Brockbank conveyed to the Board of Ikiucation a further request of j che Nebo Teachers' Association committee for adoption of their proposed salary schedule 'or the 1955-56 school, year.
