Show To Head District Legion Auxiliary j Springviife Woman v Springville American Legion and Auxiliary were well represented at the district 4 . convention held in Orem Friday evening of last week, when the local post commander Shirley Thorpe received a membership mem-bership citation in behalf of the Springville post. In the Auxiliary department meeting conducted by Mrs. Hannah Han-nah Mathews of Pleasant Grove district president, Mrs. Manila Brown of Springville was elected district president for the coming year; Mrs. Clara Beagley of Spanish Span-ish Fork, first vice-president and Mrs. Irene Baker of Orem, second vice-president. Mrs. Peterson of Pleasant Grove is historian. The Legion elected L a R u e Thurston of Provo, district commander com-mander with EarJ Potts of Eureka, vice-commander. Short talks were made at the convention by visiting department officers: Clark Cheney of Kays-ville, Kays-ville, commander; Bill Connelly of Salt Lake, vice-commander; A. S. Horseley, Salt Lake, service officer and Lloyd Wignall, department adjutant. ad-jutant. From the Legion Auxiliary were Mrs'. Nettie Hayes of Richmond, Rich-mond, department president; Mrs. Sutteer of Roosevelt, first vice-president; vice-president; Mrs. Ruby' Farnsworth, national committeewoman and department de-partment secretary; Mrs. Helen Howard, department director of girls state, each of whom spoke. Also attending the convention were two candidates for depart-: ment offices: Harry Tasker of Greenriver for dept. commander, and Bill Suteer of Roosevelt for national committeeman. Thirteen Auxiliary units and Legion Le-gion posts were represented at the convention which - extends from Lehi on the north to Eureka and Nephi on the south. |
