Samuel Allred went to Salt Lake City Sunday returning Tuesday. John Baxter Sr., one of our oldest citizens, died last Friday, Feb. 7th, 1913, of old age and general debility, Mr. Baxter had been quite poorly for some time. He was 92 years old last month, he lived with his son, John R. Baxter of this city, his wife having died some years ago. They came from Scotland to Spring City about 30 years ago. The funeral was held Monday Feb. 10th, at 2 p. m. in the tabernacle. The services were well attended. One of Spring City's sweet little girls, Miss Lora Allred daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Waren Allred, died Tuesday Feb. 11th, 1913, of heart troubles. She was 11 years old and had been in poor health for some time. The funeral was held Thursday Thurs-day Feb. 13th, at 2 p. m. ,n the Tabernacle Tab-ernacle and was largely attended by many relatives and friends. The Senior girls of the Y."L. M. I. A. gave their President, Miss Olive M. Allred a surprise party Thursday evening at the home of her parents in this city.. The event was successful success-ful in every way and all present had an enjoyable time. The party was given to show the appreciation of her faithful labors, Mrs. Margaret B. Griffiths was suddenly called to CeJer City last week on account of the serious illness ill-ness of her daughter who had a severe attack of appendicitis. It is not known yet whether she will be operated on at Ceder City or brought here. Last Saturday evening Feb. 8th, about 20 persons, neighbors and friends, gave Mr. Joseph Wright a surprise party oi. his birthday. Pieinic was taken and all spent an enjoyable evening playing games. Mrs. E. Wilkinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wright of Spring City, is on the way to Montreal, Mon-treal, Canada and New York on a pleasure trip. She and her husband reside in Vancouvor, B. C. and will, pay their parents a visit on the way to the west. Mr. and Mrs. James Clawson entertained en-tertained at their homelin this city Friday evening. The event was to celebrate Mr. Clawsons 60th birthday. birth-day. Those present w.re; Bp. and Mrs. L. O. Larsen, N. Smith of Oakley Idaho Ida-ho has been in Spring City a few days. Lawrence Olsen who has filled a 26 months mission in the Western States, returned home last week, feeling fine and looking well. |
