Show SPANISH FORK WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 2009 • A l l Covering what matters most 6th Green Fever Golf Tournament winners announced The sixth annual "Green Fever1' benefit golf tournament was held at the Spanish Oaks Golf Course in Spanish Fork this past month. The Herff Jones team consisting of Dave McKee, SFHS Principal; Daniel Larsen, Herff Jones; Jeff Roylance; and Reese Branson, SFHS assistant principal won the tournament in a sudden death playoff against the Physical Sports Therapy team sponsored by Brian Lambert and Bill Sumsion from Springville. The players were Ryan Pickering, Scott Mitchell, Scott Pickering, and Steve Murdock. All profits from the tournament go directly to benefit children and classrooms in Nebo School District. "The 'Green Fever' golf tournament was a huge success!" said Scott Barlow, foundation board member and golf organizer. 'This tournament is a great way to help our children and enjoy an early golf game." Tournament sponsorships range from $ 1,000 to $100. Donations of products, gift certificates, merchandise and services or monetary donations were given by our generous businesses and communities. The tournament has always filled days before the tournament takes place. The $250 golf hole sponsors include: Bank of American Fork-Spanish Fork, CSB Nutrition, Clyde Companies, Dr. Traer Caywood, Farmers Insurance Group, Geneva Rock, GP Construction, Get Away Today, J-Mart Printing, Nebo School District, Payson Fruit Growers, Progressive Eyecare, Salem Chevron, Spanish Oaks Golf Course, SunRoc, W.W. Clyde, Wells Fargo of Spanish Fork, and Wells Fargo of Springville The $1,000 major sponsors include: Brent Brown, Clyde Companies, ClydeCo Building Supplies, Daily Herald, Hogan Construction, Hughes General Contractors, Intermountain Turbine; Kevin Madson & Associates, MHTN Architects, MountainStar Healthcare, Mountain View Hospital, Physical Sports Therapy, and Westland Construction. Bobby Casper, pro golfer and radio personality, was instrumental in organizing the tournament. He conducted a 45 minute clinic starting at 9:15 a.m., prior to the 10 a.m. tournament shotgun start. Casper sponsored a "Use the Pro Shot" on a hole where most teams used his shot for $20. The Nebo Education Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization created to bring businesses, donors and volunteers together for the benefit of local public school children. The foundation conscientiously manages and disperses tax-deductible donations to local schools in the form of scholarships, financial grants, equipment and supplies. Foundation members are volunteers committed to helping area residents assist our children. The money earned aids in providing resources to enrich student learning within Nebo School District. Run to Remember held Salem's Run To Remember 1 mile/5K was held Saturday, May 9,2009. Organized by runningclub. org, the race was held in memory of Ethal Sorensen. Proceeds from the race went to the American Alzheimer's Association. There was also a health fair at the finish line to give information about Alheimer's and other illnesses.
