Show Shorthanded Kicks thumped again The Park City Kicks played shorthanded shor-thanded for the third consecutive week. And for the third consecutive week, they were thumped this time 5-1 by the Weber State College team inOgdenonNov.2. "Nettie (Franzen, captain) did a good job in goal, but there were only eight women playing and we just could hold them off for so long," said Coach Steve Creer. "All eight staged a valiant and skillful effort." Leslie Nielson put the Kicks on the scoreboard first with a rebound goal off a Weber goalie's miscue. However, from that point on, it was obvious the Kicks were fighting an uphill battle. Franzen kept her team in the game by foiling several uncontested Weber assaults on net, but by halftime the Ogden squad managed to forge a 3-1 lead. The second half was even more frustrating for the Park City women. There were not enough players to form a consistent attack. Defense was equally as frustrating as fullbacks Dianne Glaser, Dianne Spainhower and Susan Samuels were always outnumbered. i "Their hard play kept the score from being even more lopsided," Creer said. "The next two weeks it will be even tougher playing shorthanded shor-thanded because we have the Griffins Grif-fins and then Pan World, two of the strongest teams in the league. "Unless four of our stronger players from Park City either come back from vacation or change work hours, the remainder of the fall campaign cam-paign indeed looks bleak." The Kicks' next game will be against the Griffins at Salt Lake City Nov. 9. |
