Show Honored Matron Passes Away Following Long Illness Eliza A. Shelley Wild widow of the late Joseph S. Wild, died Wednesday noon at her home, after being confined con-fined to her bed for the past six weeks with high blood pressure and other complications. She was born May 4, 1871, in American Fork, the daughter of pioneer parents, the late Sarah Clegg and Stephen Shelley. She was the oldest of a family of five. At the age of 21, March 16, 1892, she was united in marriage to Joseph S. Wild, son of pioneer parents, also, who came to Utah from England in the year 1859. For three years after their marriage they resided in Butte, Montana, where her husband was employed, returning to American Fork in 1895, where they have since resided. In 1901 she and her husband received re-ceived their endowments in the Salt Lake Temple. Before the division of American Fork ward she was' a teacher in the Primary organization for several years, and has been for the last thirty years a teacher in the Relief Society. At the .time of her death she was also treasurer of the local camp of the Daughters of the Pioneers. Pio-neers. One year ago, June 26, 1928, her husband was called from her by death. Her life has always been one of devotion and love so beautifully demonstrated when bereavement and sorrow came to her parents' home and the homes of her two sisters. She also. . proved a real mother t0 her foster son, Raymond Wild Currie, from his seventh birthday to manhood. man-hood. Although not blessed with children of her own her reward is 'sure because of her devotion to others. She is survived by one brother, Stephen T. Shelley, and two sisters, Mrs. June Wright and Miss Amy Shelley, all of American Fork. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sun-day, July 7, at 4 p. m. in the First ward chapel. Previous to the services ser-vices the body may be viewed at the family residence. A |
