Show COUNT CREIGHTON DEAD. Noted Philanthropist of Omaha Is Victim of Deadly Pneumonia. Count John A. Crcighton. the noted philanthropist, who has been ill with pneumonia, died at his home at Omaha at 1:27 o'clock Wednesday morning. Because of his great charities to Catholic school organizations, the late Pope Loo made Mr. Creighton a count of the Papal court. Mr. Creighton, who was 75 years of age, was a civil engineer by profession, and in 1856 came west as an associate of his brother Edward, who controlled the Pacific Telegraph company. Later ho was engaged rh railroad ' building and mining. In isr9 he founded Creighton university and later established estab-lished and endowed Creighton hospital. Both these institutions were presented to the clmrch. His estate is estimated at from $5,000,000 to $10,000,000. " |
