Show ! LEADVILLE, COLO. i i i Charles Slavin leaves soon for Gold-field. Gold-field. Andrew Ryan left this city last week for Cherebusco, N. Y. Mrs. Sullivan has returned from a pleasant journey to Denver. Terry Connets came over from Montezuma Mon-tezuma yesterday. Miss Margaret McCall has gone to Goldfield. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sweeney entertained entertain-ed Thursday evening of last week in honor of Dr. Evins. Mr. and Mrs. Gil-roy, Gil-roy, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Progressive high five was the game of the evening. A very pretty wedding took place on Wednesday evening c-f last week at the Church of the Annunciation, when Mr. Tom Powers and Miss Kate Murray were united in marriage. Dick Mui ray-was ray-was best man and Miss Addie Lappin was bridesmaid. After the ceremony a reception was given Mr. and Mrs. Powers Pow-ers at the home of the bride. On the late train they left for Denver and when they return will he at home to their many friends at 219 East Eighth street. One of the largest funerals ever taking tak-ing place in Leadville occurred Tuesday Tues-day afternoon of last week, when Mrs. Mary McGrath v.-as buried from her Irfte home on Toledo avenue. The services serv-ices were first held at the residence, after which the body was taken to the Church of the Annunciation, where requiem req-uiem mass was celebrated by Father Giobcns, Mrs. McGrath was a pioneer woman of this district. She came here in the early days of the Leadville camp, reaching the pla-e as early as 1S7S. She has lived here almost continuously ever since that time, and was well known to nearly every one in the city. Two years ago her husband. Patrick McGrath, died, leaving her with seven children surviving. Fourteen children had been born to Mrs. McGrath. but seven preceded her to the grave. Some of the members of the family now reside re-side in Butte. Mont. Of her life among her family and friends, naught but words of the most extreme kindness are heard. She was counted as one of those kind hearted women, with a loving disposition, who numbered her friends among all of her acquaintances.' Her presence will be sorely missed in the community. |
