Show w v L L A WHOLESALE RELOCATION I JK Walker of Salt fcnlcc Creates a Mining Sensation in Butte The Butte InterMountain of the 9th L imst contains tile following Messrs J R Walker and B G Ray bould of the Alice company with then attorney Judge McBride arrived from Salt Lake several days ago but not until yesterday did the object of their mission develop Yesterday however in company com-pany with asurveyor they were busy all day locating and relocating a very valuable valu-able piece of ground comprising the Gulch and Silver Safe quartz claims and it is reported also a whole or a portion or the Goldsmith No1 and 2 In explanation of this proceeding it may be stated on the authority of Mr Raybould that about the year 1879 Mr Marcus Daly who was then employed bv Walker Bros as Superintendent super-intendent of the Alice was by them authorized au-thorized to purchase a certain placer claim locaf din Beefstraight gulch and embracing the whole or in part the quartz claims above mentioned Assessment work Mr Raybould states was annually performed afterwards as required by law and the purchasers still allege themselves to be in legal possession of the ground The quartz locations made subsequent to the purchase of the placer claim do not embrace the latter entire and there are a few intervening fractions it is said which had not been located To include everything every-thing therefore a wholesale relocation was made but whether or not it exceeds the dimensions of the original placer claims which were 2500 feet long by 200 feet wide is not known A lawsuit will of course be the result 01 Mr Walkers action and the great value of the ground involved in the controversy gives assurance that it will be a most important im-portant one It is not known at this I writing whether or not the placer was patented If the Silver Safe and other quartz claims embraced within the relocation relo-cation have not been patented an attempt will of course be made to adverse pending applications Mr Raybould believes that the point at issue is as to the question of the known existence or nonexistence of quartz on the placer claim at the time of its location a |
