Show Springville Couple Appointed New Utah County Youth Home Parents Hugh Baxter, retired high school instructor, and his wife Gwen, have been appointed house parents for the Utah County Youth Home, il was announced this week. They will succeed Dr. and Mrs. Loyd C. Whitlock who have been serving temporarily as the youth home parents since the institution opened July 1. Mr. Baxter has taught school jt years giving him experience which will prove valuable in han- w w for many years. For 20 years, he has been Boy Scout counselor in civics and he worked for Kolob Stake MIA recreation for 17 years and was manager of the Teen-age Kanteen four years. Mr. Baxter stated that it is his belief that much closer cooperation coopera-tion between the schools and' other organizations interested in youth can be brought about in a concerted concert-ed move to prevent juvenile delinquency. his new work. He has Deen associated in Scout work and LDS church recreation work for a number num-ber of years. He served several yeears also on the Springville Library board. Sirs. Baxter has been a teacher in JOA and in Primary and served as president of the Home Culture club, one of the supporting organizations organ-izations of the Youth Home. They will take over their new duties September 1, with a determination deter-mination to make a real home for Die boys and girls who come under their supervision. Mr. Baxter was principal of grade schools at Cowley, Wyo., mil later taught at Garfield County High School in Panquitch, Wng principal there his third fear. Then he joined the Spring- High School faculty and taght there until his retirement "year ago.
