Show City Audit Shows Receipts Far Exceed Disbursements , i A report of the audit, made by an accounting-firm accounting-firm representative, of city finances for the past year, disclosed that receipts exceeded disbursement by $18,121,97, according to City Recorder Lloyd Ashcraft. Receipts in practically every fund during 1952, were higher than in 1951, while disbursements in the public health and safety, sewer, class "C" roads, special improvements improve-ments and airport funds, reflected reflect-ed decreases, under those of the previous year, the recorder stated. Operating receipts in the water and electric power departments exceeded operating expenses for the year under review by $106,-429.68 $106,-429.68 as compared to $83,224.90 during the previous year. After bond and interest payments had been made and capital expenditures expendi-tures (for improvements) were deducted, de-ducted, the net cash income of the utility department amounted to $29,475.13. x The report on the audit was i made at the council meeting held Monday evening at the city hall. It was reported also that 100 acres of land in the city pasture destroyed by the flood of 1952, are being leveled and seeded with grass. Mayor Clyde and Councilman Paul Haymond were asked to contact con-tact Claude Ashworth, Provo architect arch-itect and have plans drawn for installation of a gas furnace in the library as well as a cooling system. Other reports made during the evening included one on the fine new concrete bridge constructed at Fifth East, Fourth South over Hobble Creek by Thorn's Construction Construc-tion company. The bridge will be ready for use in the very near future, with the placing of a railing and fill dirt to be completed soon. The bridge extends entirely across the street, the pedestrian bridge being be-ing separated from the road bridge by a railing and curb and gutter. |
