Show returning home by way of Las Vegas, Nevada. L. E. Davies, seaman, USN., son of Mr.' and Mrs. Franklin Davies of Mapleton returned to Long-Beach, Long-Beach, Calif., August 12th from the Far East aboard the light cruiser USS Manchester. The Manchester Man-chester operated with fast carrier Task Force 77 and bombarded enemy en-emy transportation and supply targets along the East Coast of Korea. The cruiser visited the Hawaiian Ha-waiian Islands, Japan and Hong Kong while in the Pacifc. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Clark and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ewing have just returned from a two-weeks trip east. They went to Detroit, Mich., where the Clarks picked up a new Packard and then went on to Niagrara Falls, N.Y. Later they traveled through Wisconsin and to the Black Hills of South Dakota and returned home by way of Colorado Col-orado touring the Rocky Mountain Park. Mr. and Mrs. C. Vernor Dunn of Brookside visited the past week in Tooele with Mr. Dunn's mother, Mrs. O. C. Dunn. 1 Attending the James Alvey Jr. family reunion at Idaho Falls, Ida., early this month from Springville were Mr. and Mrs. Duane Heaps and son Ken and Mr. and Mrs. James C. Heaps and family. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Allan enjoyed en-joyed a visit the past week from their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Breinholt (Verna Allan) . and daughter Marilyn of Santa Ana, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling- E. Price are having an enjoyable time with their grandsons Bill and Danny Price, who are here from Coron-ado, Coron-ado, Calif. Their father, Dr. Fred Price will come for them this week and visit for a short time with his parents and his wife's folks in Salt Lake Cty. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brailsford had as their dinner guests one day last week Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Metcalf of California and family and Mrs. Gladys Hughes of Cleveland, Cleve-land, Ohio. The Patrick McCable family moved recently from their home at 593 South Main street to Sterling, Ster-ling, Wyo., to reside. Airman Second Class Dan Bartholomew, Bar-tholomew, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bartholomew, 529 East 7th So., Springville, was promoted to the rank of Airman First Class, this week. He is assigned to the Statistical services branch, office of the comproller, Headquarters Fifteenth Air Force, March Air Force Base, Calif. Airman Bartholomew completed Springville high school in 1951. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in November 1951. He has since completed clerk typist school at West Texas State College and key punch operator school at Mc-Clellon Mc-Clellon Air Force Base, Calif. In his assignment he works at compiling com-piling figures and costs incorporating incorporat-ing the newest cost methods now being utilized by the Strategic Air Command. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Roylance have just . returned from a two-week vacation. They went by way of Reno, Nev., spending some time at Lake Tahoe and Carmel, then on to San Francisco, where they spent two days with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Niemes, the former Arlea Wilson. In Santa Marie they spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Munson former Provo residents. They traveled on down the coast to Los Angeles and Manhatten Beach where they spent a night with Dwain Roylance. Three or four days were spent with Mr. and Mrs. Mell Dean and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tripp ' in San Diego They visited many points of interest in-terest in and around San Diego |
