Show California Scholarships For Utah Students. The five Thompson scholarships, of the annual value of $G00 each, are offered to young' men and women, wom-en, residents of UtaU. by the University Uni-versity of California. Applications for these scholarships l'or thp year beginning July 1 next mut be in the hands of the Recorder of ihe Faculties Facul-ties of the University of California, at Berkeley, on or before February 29, 1912. These scholarships for Utah students stud-ents were endowed by Mrs. Jennie D. Thompson of Salt Lake. By her will which was probated in 1907, she created an endowment to be known as the Willard D. Thompson Memorial Mem-orial Fund, the income to be used for scholarships at Berkeley in memory mem-ory of her son, Willard Dawson Thompson, who graduated from the University of California in 1895, and who died ten years after his fradua-tion. fradua-tion. 'Applicants for scholarships must have completed at least a four years' course in some rV.igh school or other secondary school ot recognized standing. stand-ing. Applications will be received from the members ol' the graduating graduat-ing classes of the current school year as well as from high school graduates gradu-ates of former years who mav or may not have continued their studies in colleges or universities. Applir cants must be possessed of sound health and good moral character. Among applicants possessing- these qualifications selection will be made upon basis of scholarly work .and promise. |
