Show Carrots for Stock Food. No root, is more relished by domestic domes-tic animals than carrots. Weight for weight, they are somewhat less nutritious nutri-tious than potatoes, but the greater yield more than makes up the difference differ-ence in quality. Horses are especially especial-ly fond of carrots, and when not working work-ing hard should have carrots as a part of their ration. They keep up their condition and give them a fine glossy coat. When fed to cows they somewhat increase the richness of milk, and are thought by some to give a richer color to butter. They are also a valuable val-uable food for sheep and lambs. |
