Show Trapper TreKi1 by Large Dogs Three larg dogs recently treed a trapper in Parley's Canyon, according to a Division Div-ision of Wildlife Resources conservation con-servation officer. A licensed beaver trapper reported he was checking his trap near Summit Park whenhe was attacked by a Dober-man Dober-man pinscher, German shepherd shep-herd and a malamute. He ripped off his snowshoes and barely made it in time to safety in a quaking aspen. The dogs tried to get him out, but then spotted a beaver he had trapped. The trapper said they ripped apart the animal which had a pelt worth about $25. The trapper reported he had no weapons and had to sit in the tree a long time before the dogs left. He later talked to the property prop-erty owner to try to learn who owned the dogs. Two of "the animals wore licenses. The landowner said he had had similar sim-ilar problems with the dogs and that he always carried a weapon. This year's state legislature passed a bill that provides that any person may kill a dog while it is attacking, chasing or worrying any domesticated animal an-imal or fowl of commercial value or any species of hoofed protected wildlife. Dog owners who allow their animals to roam should be aware of this law, as should those persons under attack! |
