Show "No Contract-No Worh" "No contract No work" was the ultimatum of workers at the Park City Ventures mine at midnight April 30 when their contracts ran out. Eighty men refused the offer made to them on the grounds that they were not going to get enough money. Niles Andrus, president of the company, when contacted Tuesday morning, May 1, said "We are working on a settlement, settle-ment, and hope it won't be more than a day or two. Most of our miners are in the top levels of pay and we just can't afford to raise them to what they are asking. ask-ing. It would put operatingcosts up too much." Mr. Andrus agreed that experience ex-perience counts for a lot in the mining business. He explained that Anaconda is the parent company here so any offers made have to be acceptable to them. "This slows up negotiations negotia-tions a bit" he said. |
