Show Hanksville News Funeral services were held in Richfield Wednesday for Vernon W. Pace, 85, a well known area resident. He was born in Loa Oct. 23 1890 to Willard and Lydia Okerlund Pace. Married Leone Swenson June 24, 1914, solemnized in the LDS Temple. Leone preceeded him in death. Vern was a rancher all of his life after serving in World War I Survivors include his sons, Ralph of Bicknell and Mack of Brawley, California and one daughter, Pricilis Anderson who resides in South Africa; 14 grandchildren, a great grandchild grand-child and one sister, Nettie Brian, Loa. Mr. and Mrs. La Vor Wells have named their new son, Caleb La Vor. He was born July 20 in the I.W. Allen Hospital in Moab weighing 6 lbs. 1 oz. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William W. Wells and Mrs. Edith Stewart Unzicker from Kirtland, Arizona. Ari-zona. Edith visited the Well's family for a couple of days along with a sister-in-law from Kirtland. Mrs. Thresa Thompson and two sisters visited Mrs. Edna Ekker Robison Friday from their homes in Ferron and Emery County. Mrs. Joanne Whitby and Mrs. Bonnie Taylor hosted a baby shower Wednesday for Mrs. Careen Ekker. Guests included Mrs. Neva Ekker Pace, Loa; Mrs. Rita Ekker, Mrs. Catherine Grundy, Mrs. Connie Brown, Mrs. Connie Rasmussen, Mrs. Carolyn Hatch, Mrs. Brenda Albrecht, Rita and Sybil Ekker. Kindergarten students to begin this year will be Annie Ekker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ekker; Cody Ekker son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Ekker. Shane Wilcox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wilcox, Stephenie Rasmussen, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Rasmussen, Michelle Herman, Her-man, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ship Herman; Perry Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Newell (Butch) Miller, Cain-ville; Cain-ville; and Erick Carver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Carver. Mrs. Reba Bennett, daughter, daught-er, Pat, and grandson, Merrill, are visiting this week at Shoot-A-Ring with her sister and family, the Roy Mays. Mrs. Ruth Ekker and two children from Idaho visited this week with the Darys Ekkers and her parents, the Carl Ellett's in Fremont. Dr. Tom Barton and Father Bill Mobley will be in the area this weekend to enjoy some time at their cabin in the Henry's from their home in Evanston, Wyo., and Price, Utah. Dr. Barton was the first physician in Green River at the Medical Clinic and Mobley was his lab technician. Mr. and Mrs. Barry Wayne Cheskaty and daughter, Julie and Mrs. Cheskaty's sister, Jenny Lee from San Diego, California, will join Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fink here this week for a river trip thru Wesrwater with their cousin, A.C. Ekker. Barry and Mrs. Fink are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cheskaty (the former Julia Ekker) of La Mesa. Dedication will be held Sept. . y 17 for the Bicentennial High- r way U-95 that was recently completed from Hanksville to Blanding.
