Show Edge of Cedars Museum Construction Begun The construction of the Edge of the Cedars Indian Cultural Museum is finally underway. The patience and determination of the local people and officials is at last being rewarded with the foundation work now underway. under-way. The contract for construc tion was awarded to Hurst Building and Supply of Bland-. Bland-. ing Utah at a cost totaling $623,249.00 The contract allows al-lows for 360 days to complete JJie project. The building will house a crafts room, administrative offices, archeological research areas, a multi-purpose area, and over 5,000 sq. feet of I exhibit area. The exhibits soon to be , planned should take the visitor from the ancient anasazi ' indian culture up through the ) present day tribal structure of the Navajo and Ute indians, showing each separate culture in prospective with the others. The building will also serve as a archeological research and study facility in connection with the Edge of the Cedars site excavation as well as other excavations in the southeast section of the state. We feel this museum and the Broken Arrow Center planned by the Utah Navajo Development Council will serve as a real tourist drawing card as well as an excellent learning facility. |
