Show FALL INJURIES ' FATAL TO FORMER MAYOR MnXBoyer Dies At Family Kesidence; Funeral Held Wednesday Lgrgely attended funeral services serv-ices were conducted in the Second rd chapel Wednesday afternoon for John Selvoy Boyer, 78, who died Saturday morning at the family residence of injuries sustained sus-tained in a fall from a cherry tree on Friday. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, directed by A. T. Wheel-er Wheel-er & Son Mortuary. Mr. Boyer was picking cherries from limbs he had sawed off the tree, and fell approximately 18 feet to the ground. He suffered a fractured collar bone, internal injuries in-juries and shock. He was born in Springville on March 31, 1867, a son of John Sell and Julia Ann Crandall Boyer, Boy-er, and had made his home in Springville always. He served as Springville city mayor and had also been a member mem-ber of the city council. An ardent church worker, he filled two missions, mis-sions, one in . England and Ireland Ire-land in 1903-1905, and another in He northwestern states in 1919-20. He was in the Second ward Sunday Sun-day School superintendency for 20 years. He had done much temple work, spending the last winter or so in Mesa, Ariz., and also some time in St. George. For many years he was interest- ' ed in the poultry industry and he also operated one of the most suc- cessful farms in this locality. . I He was a life Scout and had served as a Scout executive for twenty years. For six years, in his J earlier life, he was manager of the Springville Cannery. ' He married Sussana Bailey Jar- J retat, May 1, lg89, in the Manti temple. She died in 1943. Survivors include eight sons aid daughters, Mrs. Margaret Chloe Fox, Selvoy J. Boyer, Arthur Arth-ur C. Boyer, Miss Mary Boyer and Edward Boyer, Springville; Mrs. Catherine Buchanan, Venice, Ut., mm Mrs. Mildred Jarvis, Mesa, Ariz.; J Mrs. June McCarthy, San Francisco, Francis-co, Calif.; also forty-two ' grandchildren; grand-children; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Myron A. Boyer, Springville; Dr. D. D. Boyer, Provo; Pro-vo; Ira Wayne Boyer, Arco, Ida. |
