' OLD FAITHFUL 4 My washing machine has broken brok-en down. It's one I inherited and the repair man says it's the oldest he ever saw. He says I should have a prize. The people who made the washing wash-ing machine ought to get the prize. It's quite a machine that will chug away Monday after Monday for more than 25 years. But, good as that one was, they have learned to make much better ones in that time. Lighter, more efficient, easier to handle. And I see by the papers that 'the washing wash-ing machine manufacturers, who have been turning out war materials mater-ials for a long time, are going to be allowed to give us some new washing machines soon. I'm glad to hear it. It means those factories will have jobs for a lot of men coming home. And I |
