Show GOOD FISHING IN SOUTHERN UTAH Fishing in southern Utah is the "most exceptional" in many years, according to reports reaching reach-ing the Utah Fish and Game Commission. Com-mission. Don Draper, past president of 'the Cedar City Wildlife Federation, Federa-tion, credits the greatly expanded production of the Panguitch Hatchery with a "marked improvement" im-provement" in stream fishing. He reported that Mammoth Creek, Assay Creek, Three Forks Creeks and other streams in that vicinity have afforded the finest fly fishing in years this season. Until the last part of July, Fish Lake has yielded bigger catches than in several seasons, and the late August and September angling ang-ling has always been at its best there. Lee Kay, educational director for the commission, reported that 125 large mackinaws (lake trout) had been taken by fishermen staying stay-ing at Nebeker's Camp. The largest larg-est of these was a 25-pounder. A 17-pound rainbow also showed up among a number of big rainbows taken this year. Scofield has been yielding some superb catches of natives and will continue to be good until it "mosses "moss-es up" and again in September when -the colder weather arrives. Strawberry Reservoir has been sporadic, very good or very bad, but is expected to develop the best fall fishing in years at that mecca. Thousands of legal size fish are still being planted from all of the thirteen state hatcheries. |
