We must strive to help every student develop good self-esteem, this will help reduce problems with drug abuse, teen pregnancy, discipline and dropouts. I know how to get things don on board and councils, I know the importance im-portance of education in the 90s." Dalton H. Wright, M.D., precinct 1, is a graduate of BYU and U. of U. College of Medicine. He is certified certi-fied with the American Board of Radiology since 1985. He served in theUSAFin 1989. "Excellence in education can only be achieved with the involvement and help of parents and the public," he said. "I intend to see that patrons feel welcome at school board meetings meet-ings that public input is allowed before be-fore the decision is made, that closed session are no longer used to hide public business from the public." "There is a crisis in the American educational system," he said. "Illiteracy is an increasing problem, college entrance exams continue to decline, American students finish last or near last on standardized scores when compared to European and Asian counterparts and now over 50 percent of doctorates awarded each year in many of the "hard sciences" in American universities uni-versities go to foreigners. "I don't have all the answers, but I know that together we can face the challenge. I will keep an open ear and an open mind to all those who wish to educate a generation of achievers and not failures. I believe it is through education one is civilized civi-lized and only through education can he or she reach his or her full potential." Incumbent in precinct 1 is Gawain Snow. He was born and raised in Jensen. He and his wife, Addie Gardner, have seven children. He has been president of the Uintah County Farm Bureau for six years, helped organize the Jensen Fire Department and served two years on the Zoning Commission. "With five of my seven children in school from High School on down, I am deeply concerned with the quality of their education experience." experi-ence." "From my past involvement as a School board member and in various vari-ous other organizations, I have learned that everyone can make a contribution, if allowed to express their opinions openly. Therefore it is important to have an open mind to all views in order to reach a fair and correct decision." "It is my feeling that there is a need to uphold tried and proven traditional tra-ditional methods and values while being ever attentive to the necessity of change and progress. "I will continue to work for lower class sizes especially at the elementary elemen-tary level with or without the additional addi-tional two mills. "I prefer to take the time to find a long-term solution to problems that will be satisfactory and affordable to all the taxpayers in the county. There is no substitute for common sense or experience." Experience Counts Vote TO) 1 Uintah County Clerk-Auditor OTHER CREDIT CLASSES DR. SPEPHEN GLENN'S DEVELOPING CAPABLE PEOPLE.
