Show W CD TTGEL By the Journalism Class f Milford High School Mrs. Mary McCulley, Instructor GIRLS ATTEND STATE CONVENTION The annual State F H A convention con-vention was held Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake, with 800 girls attending from all over the state. The first meeting meet-ing was held Friday evening. After the meeting the girls went back to the Hotel New-house New-house and visited with other girls. Not much sleep was had that night. x Saturday morning started off by getting up at 7 to be at the first meeting at 9. The guest speaker talked on the theme of the convention, "Toward New Horizons." After lunch, the girls either went shopping or stayed for the afternoon meeting. meet-ing. Speakers at the afternoon meeting were several exchange students, attending schools in Salt Lake Ctiy. At 5:30 the girls were ready for the long-awaited climax of the day, the annual banquet. The speaker, Rose Marie Reid, a Los Angeles bathing suit designer, de-signer, gave important rules for young homemakers. The ten girls attending from Milford were Vicki Holland, Elaine Griffiths, Elaine Posey, Judy Jefferson, Marsha Smith, Diane Slinkerd, Linda Merry-weather, Merry-weather, Sandra Wilcock, Judith Ju-dith Cook, Linda Roberts, and the advisor, Mrs. Rimpau. Mrs. Slinkerd also accompanied the group. HILLBILLY ASSEMBLY The Eighth grade filled the schedule for the students of Milford High Friday, Feb. 22, as they presented an assembly and dance. The assembly was based around the television show The Beverly Hillbillies. This mixed variety show featured songs, dances, and pantomimes, em-ceed em-ceed by Craig Kirk and George McCulley, and had a million laughs for everyone. The dance was after the Mil-ford-Beaver game. The class sold candy, popcorn and punch. The students danced to the music of the school combo, vhich consists of Brad Whit-' taker, Steven Miller, Grant Wadsworth and Mike Wisner, and found their music a welcome wel-come change from the usual stack of records. The dance proved to be one of the more successful ones of the year. FLOWERS AND BOWS Yes, Flowers and Bows were presented to the graduating .Tigerettes last Friday night. It was the last time these girls will march, as they will be graduang in May. Nine girls stood in line in a ceremony held before the A-game. A-game. The girls were Joyce Moore, Judy Jefferson, Colleen Briscoe, Delores Allen, Laurel Young, Louise Gillins, Linda Sherwood and Karen Beding-field. Beding-field. They received beautiful corsages cor-sages in a red and white arrangement ar-rangement with gold bows. Miss Peterson's corsage was made of large red rosebuds. Anna Hutchings and Marsha Smith were also honored, but were unable to be present. |
