Show TIGERS EKE OUT CLOSE WIN OVER BEAVER The Milford Tigers saw a 32-17 halftime lead dwindle to a mere 1-point victory margin over the Beavers, last Friday, and the hometown fans were on the verge of apoplexy when there was only a two-point margin with two minutes left to play, and three of the Milford starters were benched on fouls. But the Tigers held on to their slim lead, and aided by two chances at the foul line one with only 11 seconds left, they overcame the one final basket the Beavers dunked and wound up on the long end of a 54-53 score, maintaining their tie for the loop lead with the Delta Rabbits. Milford plays the Farowan Rams Friday night, in the season finale, and Delta plays at Beaver. A loss by either club coupled with a win by the other, decides the championship cham-pionship and State Tourney berth. If both teams win, a playoff will be held. In the second quarter Milford moved out to their biggest lead and at halftime the tally was 32-17. They still had a 10-point lead at the end of the third period, and after losing Price, Puffer and Fowles on personals, the score gradually was whittled down to 53-51 with two minutes left to play. In the last two minutes the Tigers tallied only the one free throw by Roily Bacon, and Beaver sank a two-pointer.
