Show Good Orchard. Mr. Thomas Stirland, In speaking of orchards In this county, was highly enthuslatlc over that one of Laurcntz Petersen's at Sinithlleld. This gentleman gentle-man lias twenty acres of trees, 000 of which arc the finest pear trees Mr. Stirland "over saw." These trees are free of any disease, are healthy, of good shape and perfect beauties. "In this orchard- there are also 100 peach trees In bloom, in Smlthfield, where peaches can't bo grown," said Mr. Stirland. There aro also 120 lino cherries cher-ries laden with bloom. This orchard is In fine shape, and all the result of careful spraying. The McCrackens have a 0-acre orchard near Smithtlcld and the Simmons an eight acre lot of trees. Near Covevllle there are fully forty acres of good orchards on which disease is making Inroads. |
