Show STATE FARM BUREAU NOTES At the State Farm Bureau Convention Con-vention during the last week In January, Jan-uary, an urgent need was expressed by that body of prominent farmers from nearly all points in the state. This was a need for maintaining soil fertility and the production of more animal products In the way of meat, eggs, butter and cheese. As a result a state wide project was chosen entitled "More and Better Bet-ter Livestock." It was agreed to give this project the widest publicity pub-licity possible throughout the state. In accordance with this movement a committee was appointed from ex-tention ex-tention workers to recommend a plan for making this project effective. effect-ive. In order to carry out this project we recommend the following plan: 1 Increase our present number of livestock by Keeping all profitable females. This can be done by keeping more worthy females until they pass the breeding age. General interest should be worked up in this phase of the project through the bureaus aud the public press. We recommend .that where possible pure-bred stock be purchased to cooperate. co-operate. Preference should be given to state breeders where the quality and price of the Btock Is right. In Bhlpping in the stock they should be ordered through the livestock live-stock committee of the county farm bureau. We recommend that all counties unite to make a common shipment of pure bred livestock. The college will furnish competent livestock live-stock judges to accompany the county coun-ty men east to purchase the stock. Orders for the first shipment should all be in not later than April 15, 1917. In making up orders the plan used in Utah County will be followed. 1917.
