Show LOCAL MINES' GREATSTRIKES The Mineral Range is Now the Scene of Great Activity There are important developments in the mines of this section. East Antelope and Keno have "both made strikes within the past week that demonstrate, it is said, beyond a 'doubt, the wisdom of the promoters of the properties and the good judgment judg-ment of investors in the stock. Drifting Drift-ing 96 feet south on a cross cut from the tunnel a fine body of ore was opened up in the East Antelope. It is rich in lead and silver with a little copper. The greatest feature of this strike and also of the similar strike In the Keno is the fact that it proves the territory and thus verifies the reports re-ports of the several engineers, especially espec-ially that of J. H. Weber of New York. Double shifts have been employed at both the East Antelope and the Keno and at both of these properties, which adjoin each other in the Antelope An-telope Star district, ore is being taken ta-ken out for early shipment. There is considerable of the East Antelope stock owned by Milford people. Supt. Albert McLease has a large holding, the Clines have a considerable con-siderable block of it, and Brooks of the Milford Pharmacy has several thousand shares. There seems to be no disposition on the part of the holders of the stock to become detached de-tached from the pretty certificates which represent their holdings, tho' there has been a general scurrying' for a chance to purchase some of the stock. Most of the local people purchased pur-chased their holdings at one-half cent per share. There is no stock now that can be purchased at the price offered, which this week has been 3 cents. The Keno is a JesBe Knight property prop-erty and Mr. Tanner of Payson is in charge. Ore was struck in bedded vein, 18 inch lead and silver. In both mines tho ore body widens rapidly the farther it is uncovered. a. |
