Show 1 EES FOR (JHA.IXC; INCREASED PER CEXT ! The District Forrester announces that the Secretary of Agriculture has decided definitely to increase the fees for grazing livestock upon the National Na-tional Forests of the Inter-mountain District during 1917 a flat 25 per cent. It was the original plan to increase the fees for this use of the forests 33 1-3 per cent each year for the next three years, thus doubling the present fees at the end of the third year. In announcing the Secretary's decision in the matter, it is further stated that increases in following years will be based upon a further study of conditions. Receipts from grazing of livestock within the Inter-mountain District for the season of 1916 amounted to approximately $362,000. With a 25 per cent increase, they will reach a total of at least $450,000 during 1917. Thirty-five per cent of all receipts re-ceipts from the sale and use of National Na-tional Forest resources are now returned re-turned to the states and counties in which the forests are located for road and school purposes, so that the increase in-crease in grazing fees also means a 2 5 per cent increase in these returns re-turns to states and counties. |
