Lead reached 9.25 bid and 9.75 asked in New York yesterday; copper cop-per 34.50 cents and zinc 10.62 cents. Unofficial figures for 1916, taken from the leading technical journals and mining magazines show that in the twelve months of that year the average was near 75 cents an ounce, ranging from a low price of 56.75 cents, in February to a high of 77 in May. After touching the high spot, silver receded to around 60 cents, but from the latter point it 'has steadily risen. One year ago silver sil-ver sold 13 cents lower. , |
