Show GOOD SECOND HAND CARS One Metz and one Studehaker in good condition. It W. R. MARTIN, Studehaker Agent for Beaver Co. ed the crossing, Mr. Murdock started start-ed to cross the tracks. He says he looked up and down the tracks and believed the way to be clear after No. 19 had cleared the crossing. The switch engine was approaching the crossing, however, at a considerable speed and struck the Maxwell machine ma-chine a little forward of center and lifting the car clear of the ground swung it around. As the machine slid off the engine en-gine the front wheels struck the ground and the car rolled clear of the track and kept upright. The front axle was broken and the side of the car was badly jammed. Only Mr. J. S. and Edwin Murdock were in the car and both escaped without any injury excepting slight bruises where they were struck when thrown by the impact of the collision. It was a remarkable and fortunate escape es-cape from serious injury. The crossing is a dangerous one and the traveling public should be protected by the presence of a switchman switch-man or some signal or safety device. |
