Show Not Yet Paid Mrs. Grant 1250,000. Philadelphia, February 4. The publishers pub-lishers of Grant's book have not sent a check for $250,030 or for any amount to Mrs. . Grant. There is also no misunderstanding misunder-standing between the family and the men who were circulating the memoirs. . Under the contract with Grant, the publishers are not obliged to make any returns for the books sold until the 15th of March. They have not anticipated the contract by. advancing ad-vancing a penny. Naturally it is the desire de-sire of the men who are printing these books to make the first check as large as possible, because it will be an advertisement ad-vertisement of great value to the second volume. vol-ume. The second volume is all in the hands I of the printers. The delay in printing such enormous editions as are being issued of this book prevents the second volume being fead for delivery before March. The sale of Grant's Memoirs has exceeded the expectations expec-tations of the publishers, and, for the length of time it has been before the public, more volumes have been taken than of any book of like character within the history of book-publishing. |
