Show A Rich Territory. A Philadelphia gentleman, who has just returned from a visit along the Northern North-ern Pacific, says: "There are people enough going into the Northern Pacific's territory to-day to make the road rich. I have been through Minnesota from place to place, and must say I was amazed to see the people coming in there even at this time of year. The land department finds the demand for lands never was anything like as great in No- j vember as it is now. The comoanv is now taking up lands within the indemnity limits that is, within the forty miles on each side of the track allowed by the. grant to make up any deficiencies cur-ring cur-ring within -the twenty mile limit. Of these lands the company is allowed to select se-lect the best, not being obliged to take every other section, as within the twenty-mile. twenty-mile. The agents of the company are making choice of some of the finest lands in Minnesota, and these lands are in demand at high prices. Lands were sold at $1 an acre while I was there, nearly forty miles from the main line. The branch roads that are reaching out on each side of the main stem are bringing some of the most fer- ' tile sections of the Northwest within reach of the markets, and these sections are filling up at an astonishing pace. You wdl find that there will be lands enough ' east of the Missouri applicable to the ' retirement of the preferred stock to re- 1 duce that stock by not less than $15,000 -000 at present prices..
