Show JODGE ZANE SUSPENDS SENTENCE Daniel ITIannlu? Experiences Judicial Ju-dicial Clemency and IV'alks Out of Conrt Happy. ' Some weeks since Daniel T. Manning, a young man 22 years of age, and but two months in the Territory, was arrested on the charge of uttering forged paper on Mr. Peacock, of this city. This being the day set for hearing, Manning came into court, and through Mr. Varian expressed himself as desirous of changing his plea. The prosecuting attorney said he had investigated in-vestigated the young man's case and from both sides the universal opinion is that defendant is entitled to his freedom. There exists no desire on the part of any one to prosecute the case as it presents itself, and the court is requested to sus-end sus-end sentence. Young Manning withdrew with-drew his plea of not guiltv and pleaded ! guilty. J udge Zane questioned him as to his business pursuits, and said that under the circumstances surrounding the matter sentence would be suspended. Manning left the court-room with a much more cheerful countenance than he has worn during the past month. |
