Show I OUricii NEW Ton June C OBrien has received numbers of telegrams congratulating him on the course he took last night Being interviewed in-terviewed he said I have not the smallest small-est apprehension that the Irish Nationalists will misunderstand my action I am satis fled they will feel that I have acted under a painful and solemn sense of responsibility to our great leader Parnoll and from conviction con-viction Any othe course would have brought utter destruction of the movement at the moment when thu opinions of the English people are trembling and when tho most unscrupulous devices are being used against us Mr OBrien was astounded at the statement from a platform in Union Square that he scored out a resolution referring re-ferring to McGlynn Tho resolution submitted sub-mitted by the committee contained no alia siondireot indirectto McGlynns case and tho only reference in conferences to him was the statement tbat McGlynn was to bo present and speak and to that arrangement bo had no objection Mr OBrien added lias to the insulting suggestion that I was captured by tho Tammany hall or other American politicians I can only say that jf any American politicians had been guilty of an attempt to influence my judgement in the direction of any American party interest in-terest I should have known how to resent it I should havo resisted any such attempt as surely as I feel obliged to resist the attempt at-tempt to identify us with the particular organization by which tho parade was conducted con-ducted |
