I Won 15 13 15 13 4 15 5 15 5 1315 Nov 5 at Lost 5 15 5 5 1513 15 13 7 15 By Charles Barnard Volleyball Beat Writer The Salt Lake Community College women's volleyball team finished the regular season in disappointment disappointment disappointment as they fell to the hands of their rivals arch-rivals from Utah Valley State College The final score in three games was 15 5 15 1513 1513 15 13 15 Game one did not start well for forthe forthe forthe the Bruins After scoring the first point of the game fell apart The Wolverines ran off eight straight points Service errors absolutely killed the Bruins as they had four straight service errors As the game continued the Bruins play continued to be extremely poor was plagued by unforced errors and when they did set up for a kill blocking blocking blocking block block- ing line stuffed them time and time again agam The Wolverines finally finished off the Bruins 5 15 but the game was not even that close Game two started off like game one finished Service errors and bad passing continued to h hurt the Bruins If it was not for poor play by the Bruins would have lost quickly again The Bruins finally started to rally and play like a team They went on a 6 0 run to tie the game at 7 The game went back and fourth until errors back into the Bruins game pulled ahead and won the game 15 Game three was not good for the Bruins After the close loss in game two it looked like the Bruins had lost all the steam in their engine Errors were abundant for the Bruins as the Wolverines went on a 6 0 run made a valiant effort to avoid the loss by fighting off eight match points before finally falling to defeat 15 Emily Van Dyke led the team with 10 kills as well as four blocks Rachel Ariotti and Jeanette Graves both added five kills Melissa Risher led the team with 14 assists and Kim Nielsen added seven The Bruins will enter the regional region region- al tournament with the number three seed The regional tournament will be held this weekend at the K v. v t S' S il r. r a yr dry yap s n iF a RI n b bt t VS' VS V S' S hm 4 Photo by Charles Barnard The Lady Bruins Volleyball team huddles before a recent game LAC The Bruins first game will be against the from Treasure Valley The game will be on Nov 14 and will begin at 7 pm p.m. The Bruins have played once this year winning at the tournament If the Bruins win they will face the winner of the College of Eastern Utah and the College of Southern Idaho in the semi |
