Show Man of La Mancha Earns Standing Ovation I By Leslie Merrill Staff Writer Don Quixote Stephen Ivey and his loyal sidekick Sancho Jared D. D Thomson take the audience along on their crazy adventures in Man of La Mancha Quixote has his heart set on becoming becoming becoming becom becom- ing a knight On Quixote's way to find finda a knight to grant him knighthood he came across a great battle with a giant which Sancho swears is a windmill When they finally find a castle Quixote is delighted He and Sancho grab their mules and go as quickly as they can to the castle which Sancho insists is just an ordinary inn While there Quixote finds the woman he claims is his lady She tells him her name is Aldonza Jennifer Rouse Jemming and that she is only a kitchen wench Quixote insists her name is Dulcinea a name more fitting for a lady than He continues to compliment and do things for her against her protests Meanwhile at the home Quixote left his niece Maria Rebecca Benson is worried about the rumors of her uncles uncle's insanity She knows her fiance Dr Carrasco John Welch would not like to be related to a mad man Maria convinces Dr Carrasco everything will wiIl be all right with their marriage if they could get her uncle to come back and put them in his will Maria and Dr Carrasco with the help of of p Paco Nath Nathan 1 Wilson go t to to find Quixote and bring him back This play was organized very well The mules did a very good job The characters were very well cast They n 2 5 Y F tL f r t S A rf 5 C t rs r F p y by Courtesy of Westminster College Aldonza Don Sancho played their parts very well and got a standing ovation from the sold out audience The orchestra sounded great and the he singers were wonderful There There- were funny sons as well as inspiring and touching songs They went from I Like Him to The Impossible Dream The set and props made the play seem so much more real They used well considering considering con con- the scenery very especially lIY c side ring the diversity of l locations i in r KP ww F.
