Show PTA MEMBERS DISCUSS NEW RATING METHOD A meeting of the P PTA T A was held monday at pm in the school auditorium with a comlin comparatively small attendance A pleasing program was rendered by first grade pupils under the the direction of their teacher Ms mrs dorothy adams who has shown marked progress with her iiii stu dents supt bupt H lloyd hansen gave an interesting talk on new forms of report cards and methods of markt ing which was followed by a dis cassion of the same subject led by mrs adams some of the points brought out in the discus sion were as follows the relative degree of expendi expends ture of eff effort ort according to ability coupled with the method of ap determines whether students are ache iving the scholastic success which they are capable of attaining in whatever grade or group with which they are associated which factor is to be considered closely by teachers in in marking the periodical report As this rule has been found to i hold true throughout lifetime and as life itself may be considered a form of schooling the purpose of our s school chool system is primarily to 10 lay the vital foundations for means of individual application of abilities and talents in later life the method of application of energy invariably determines the measure of success or failure in any given accomplishment scientists have said most people achieve achieve only ten per cent of what 1 they hey are capable of doing the 90 per cent usually glides on the stream of time not utilized be cause our energy is not correctly applied thus it should be a major aim to induce our children to form better habits of applina boin of their time and energy while they have access to worthy coach ing as well as privileges 0 of contact with desirable facilities thru out cut their years of scholastic apprenticeship and to encourage them to take all possible advantage of opportunities and activities afforded them to enlarge and evaluate their own possibilities promotion of such favorable attitudes of scholars should prove the best means for parents to co operate with teachers and add more interest in and better results of the products of our in of learning |
